The Queen of talk her majesty Oprah Winfery is giving her last hooray to her show “The Oprah Winfery Show” on Sept 9 ,2011. Yes the mentor to so many women growing up with ambitious of being like her will now just read O magazine as way to stay connected with Mrs. Winfery. Hard to imagine a world without The Oprah Winfrey Show on weekday afternoons.

But that’s exactly what the world’s going to be like after Sept. 9, 2011, which will mark the end of Winfrey’s 25th season as host of her eponymous daytime talk show—and her last show altogether.

We can just hear the Rolodexes twirling as the folks at Harpo Productions start lining up celebrities to tape "goodbye, Oprah" messages.

"Yes, it’s true that she will be ending her show in September 2011," a rep for Harpo tells E! News. "She will be speaking about it on tomorrow’s live show."

Where will the big shots share, cry and couch-jump now? How will mere mortals get free cars?!

Deadline Hollywood first reported last week that Winfrey was gearing up to wind down in order to focus on the launch of her cable network, OWN (i.e. The Oprah Winfrey Network)—and it’s possible she could reestablish herself as everybody’s favorite small-screen couch companion over there.

More details will be coming tomorrow from the woman herself.

The first syndicated episode of Winfrey’s Chicago-based show premiered in 1986, and she’s been on the air ever since.

You think she’s been successful? Aside from the whole billionaire thing, in 1999 Winfrey took her show out of the running for the top talk show categories at the Daytime Emmys after the TV Academy presented her with a lifetime achievement award.

NEW YORK – She’s already conquered Britain, France and Germany. On Tuesday, it was time for Michelle Obama to conquer New York.

After a visit to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations and an appearance on "Sesame Street," Mrs. Obama capped her first visit to New York as first lady with an appearance before a glittery crowd at Time magazine’s annual Time 100 gala, honoring its 100 "Most Influential People." There, she mixed sparkle with substance, introducing the administration’s proposal to give $50 million to innovative nonprofit groups.

 

Yes, her husband was on that most-influential list, too, as well as 98 other movers and shakers in the worlds of politics, technology, business, fashion, science, television, film and music. But it was clearly Mrs. Obama, dressed in a long black gown with a corset bodice and jet beads draped around her neck, whom the crowd wanted to see.

And it was a powerful crowd that stood to applaud her entrance, including fellow honorees Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters and her cohorts from "The View," financial analyst Suze Orman, fashion designer Stella McCartney, and the guys who invented Twitter.

Not on the honoree list but also attending: Diane Sawyer and Charlie Rose. Actors Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy, Kate Hudson and Liv Tyler. Director Judd Apatow, "Saturday Night Live" producer Lorne Michaels, conservative pundit Ann Coulter.

In her speech, Mrs. Obama spoke of the importance of public service in her own life, and then announced that the president’s budget proposal for next year will include $50 million to help promote national service and advise nonprofit groups.

The money would be startup capital for the new Social Innovation Fund, she said, designed to help nonprofits think about service in new ways and approved by Congress as part of a national service law.

"The idea is simple: Find the most effective programs out there and then provide the capital needed to replicate their success in communities around the country," the first lady said.

"By focusing on high-impact, results-oriented nonprofits, we will ensure that government dollars are spent in a way that is effective, accountable and worthy of the public trust."

Earlier Tuesday, Mrs. Obama addressed diplomats and staff members at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, thanking them for promoting her husband’s new foreign policy of global engagement.

As the swine flu outbreak demonstrates, she said, "we know now that we cannot wall ourselves off from issues that are challenging our neighbors."

"This new policy recognizes that America’s future is intricately linked to the rest of the world, that the threats facing the global community know no borders, and no single country can tackle them alone," Mrs. Obama said.

It sounded, though, like the highlight of her day — and to take her at her word, perhaps even her life as first lady so far — was the appearance with Elmo and Big Bird.

"I never thought I’d be on ‘Sesame Street’ with Elmo and Big Bird and I was thrilled," she told the crowd at the mission. "I’m still thrilled. I’m on a high."

"I think it’s probably the best thing I’ve done so far in the White House."

Beatrice Arthur, the larger-than-life actress who scored on Broadway as the original matchmaker in Fiddler on the Roof and the hard-drinking actress in Mame before she went on to star in the groundbreaking ’70s TV series Maude and, in the ’80s, the beloved sitcom The Golden Girls, died early Saturday morning. She was 86.
Dan Watt, a spokesman for Arthur’s family, told the Associated Press that the star had been suffering with cancer, though he did not specify what kind. She died peacefully at her Los Angeles home with her family by her side, said Watt, who remembered Arthur as "a brilliant and witty woman."
Maude, which debuted on CBS in 1972 (and ran until 1978) was a spin-off of the hit All in the Family. As the liberal cousin of archconservative Archie Bunker’s wife Edith, the much-married Maude wasn’t afraid to broach such controversial (especially for TV at the time) topics as abortion and civil rights.
Golden Girls, a popular NBC Saturday-night staple from 1985 to 1992, featured Arthur as the outspoken Dorothy Zbornak, who shared a Florida home with three other women, including her mother, played by Estelle Getty – who died last July, at 84. The other stars were Rue McClanahan and Betty White.
"Bea was such an important part of a very happy time in my life and I have dearly loved her for a very long time," White said in a statement Saturday. "How lucky I was to know her."

New York Origins

Born Bernice Frankel in New York City but raised in Maryland, where her parents ran a women’s clothing store, Arthur debuted on the Off Broadway stage in New York in the 1940s, with her Broadway musical triumphs – though her singing voice was deep and scratchy – in the mid-’60s.

Married and divorced twice, Arthur took her stage name (in part) from her first husband, the screenwriter, director and producer Robert Alan Aurthur, whose credits include the Bob Fosse film All That Jazz. With second husband, Mame director Gene Saks, she adopted two sons, Matthew, 47, and Daniel, 44. They survive her.
Of her powerful stage and TV persona, which often found her cast in the same sort of role, Arthur once said, "Look – I’m 5-feet-9, I have a deep voice and I have a way with a line. What can I do about it? I can’t stay home waiting for something different. I think it’s a total waste of energy worrying about typecasting”

Oprah Winfrey is the latest celebrity weighing in on Rihanna and Chris Brown‘s domestic drama. And she’s taking action, too.
"Chris Brown and Rihanna, if I was your friend, I would call you up and I would say, ‘Give it some time, get yourself some counseling, take care of yourself,’ " Winfrey said during a live, roundtable discussion Friday on her talk show. "’Heal yourself first.”
She additionally strongly advised, "And also, love doesn’t hurt. I’ve been saying this to women for years: ‘If a man hits you once, he will hit you again.’ "
Moved by the allegations of abuse, and the fact that Rihanna is still dating Brown, Winfrey says she plans to dedicate an upcoming episode of her show to the topic of domestic violence.
"It makes me so sad that I said to the producers, ‘I want to do a show about it this week dedicated to all the Rihanna’s of the world,’ " Winfrey said, citing a statistic that one out of four women in the country are battered.
Sitting at the table with Winfrey, Gayle King echoed her friend’s sentiments while she also weighed in about the pop stars’ relationship.
"My thing about this is, if you guys want to get back together, I’m okay with that, but at least take some time," she said. "I’m so worried that she’s sending the wrong message to the fans. And him, too."
